(FSML) With this solemn Eucharistic Celebration we have raised our thanksgiving to the Most Holy Trinity following the gift granted to us by Pope Francis for the recognition of the Venerability of the Servant of God Mother Elisa Martinez who in this Diocesan Church of Ugento-Santa Maria di Leuca planted the seed of his beloved Congregation of Sisters “Daughters of Santa Maria di Leuca”, a seed that has become a luxuriant tree over the years, expanding in different parts of the world for the glory of God, for the honor of the Most Holy Mother, Mary of Nazareth, and for the benefit of ‘humanity.
As Postulator, with holy pride, I can say that it is a great success to have quickly reached this stage in the process of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of Mother Elisa, who died thirty years ago on February 8, 1991. .
If I personally rejoice and rejoice today with you, Daughters of Santa Maria di Leuca, and with the Ugentina Local Diocesan Church for what I consider a “family celebration”, I owe it above all to your encouragement, dearest Superior General, Sister Ilaria Nicolardi, and to the great availability of the collaborators whom you have had the goodness to place me next to, together with the other members of the Court. My thanks also go to you, Bishop Vito Angiuli, bishop of this Diocese, for the trust you have placed in my person. Deo gratias et Mariae!
May the luminous testimony of the Venerable Servant of God Mother Elisa Martinez, an authentic disciple of Christ, shine in the firmament of the Church and may every faithful reflect themselves in it to better follow the divine Master and His Most Holy Mother.
